How do I find out what classes I need to take in high school to get me ready for becoming a teacher?
FAQ
Is there some assessment that will just tell me what I should do?
No. The assessments found in this website are only meant to give you some career that match up with your interests and personality. People can change over time and careers will also change. No one can tell you what career you should go into. Only YOU can make that decision.
Is there just one site I can stick with to get all of my information about careers?
This will have to be your choice. It is always best to consult many resources before making any decision, and this is the same when exploring careers. You do not want to limit your options, but have all available for you to choose from.
Where can I go to find information about colleges?
You can perform internet searches for colleges within the state or out of state. There are excellent resources out there, especially, www.collegeforalltexans.com. My best recommendation for picking out that perfect college would be to first set a budget. How am I going to pay for my education? Then narrow it down by location, majors they offer, reputation, and any other personal criteria.

Thomas, I am so glad you are thinking about becoming a teacher. This can really help anyone else who may have the same question. Incoming freshman this year will have the opportunity to take human development classes as well as participate in a teacher's aide program at the nearby elementary. You will need to apply to the teacher aide program, but you are free to sign up for the human development class, which is a great start to any job where you are meeting with the public. These would be two great ways to get you started when you enter the ninth grade.
